On Monday morning, we arrived at the hospital at 5:30 AM and got checked in. At 7:30 AM, mommy was being wheeled back into the operating room where she received an epidural and was prepped for surgery. Daddy joined mommy shortly thereafter and by 8:01 AM, Sam entered the world with some powerful lungs. Oh....what an awesome sound.

He was checked out by the doctors - everything was perfect and he and daddy hung out while mommy's surgery was complete. We were brought back to our room together and were greeted by Grandma and Grandpa Olson, Grandma Stadheim and Aunt Jodi. It was a great day.... followed by a long night. Mom was quite sore after surgery so could not be a lot of help with diapering etc that first night. Dad was on his own and was amazing with everything. We saw every hour as expected between the breast feedings and diaper changes. Chad changed 7 dirty diapers that first night. Grandma Stadheim was on duty with mommy the next night and daddy the last. Each night has gotten better and better and could not be more proud of our son already.

We got out of the hospital today at about 3:30 PM. Sam loved the car ride home. He was greeted by his four legged brother and sister and was given lots of kisses already. He's sleeping now - it was his first swing ride. I am going to hop into bed now while we have the chance.... Sam loves his meal times - so need to get some rest before we start that again! We are so thankful that everything has went smoothly and appreciate all the love and support from you all.

Waiting for Sam....

We have created this blog to share pictures and stories of our new life as parents. Currently we are just waiting for Baby Sam to arrive. We have 10 days left to wait. Trust me though - we want him to wait.

Our little bundle of joy is bigger than most kids his age! He may be over 10lbs by the time he arrives so mom, dad and the doctor thought scheduling a C-section would be the best way for him to enter the world!

His birthday is set for November 3rd at 7:30AM. Grandma and Grandpa Olson will be here. Today we got the good news that Grandma Stadheim and Aunt Jodi are going to come out to meet him when he arrives too. We are so glad our family will be here for the special day. It means so much to both of us.

Daddy will take off two weeks from work when mommy gets out of the hospital.....

That's all for now. It's 3:45am and even with all the advice of "get sleep now" - I still wake up and my mind goes crazy thinking of things. I'm completely filled with joy and excitement. Stay tuned for Sam's first pics!
